Home Care Worker Pilot 2025 Hits Cap on First Day.

On March 31, 2025, the Home Care Worker Pilot Program reached its application cap within hours of opening, underscoring the high demand for this immigration pathway.

Specifically, the Home Child Care Provider Pilot hit its limit at approximately 2:25 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on the same day it began accepting applications under the Workers in Canada Stream.

The cap for the 2025 intake was set at 2,750 applications, with 150 spots reserved for out-of-status workers. While the online application portal is now closed, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) continues to accept applications in alternate formats—such as paper, braille, and large print—for individuals requiring special accommodations. It’s important to note that IRCC typically mandates online submissions via the permanent residence portal, with alternate formats intended solely for those unable to apply online.

The Home Support Worker Pilot, another component of the Home Care Worker Pilot Program, also reached its application cap on March 31, 2025.

The government has yet to announce when the stream for applicants not currently working in Canada will open.

Federal immigration pilot programs like these generally operate on a five-year cycle, and the Home Care Worker Pilot Program is anticipated to reopen in 2026.

For prospective applicants, especially those outside Canada, it’s crucial to prepare in advance for future openings. Ensuring all eligibility criteria are met and documentation is in order can significantly enhance the chances of a successful application. At Adlai Law, our experienced immigration consultants are ready to guide you through the preparation process, ensuring you’re well-positioned for the next intake.
